SAVE THE DATE: LinkedIn Hands-on Workshop

LinkedIn is tops on my list of social networks.  When I moved to Orlando from New York, I knew I needed to build my network. Besides being in a new state, I switched industries – was like building from scratch. That was four years ago – a time when I knew nothing about social media and thought LinkedIn was an online directory for business people.

I remembered creating a profile a few years earlier and like most people I knew, it was just sitting there.  I logged in,  searched for someone to network with, sent a “invitation to connect” with a personal message.  We set up a time to meet at a neighborhood Starbucks for coffee – just like that!  Fast forward to 2012 – one of the people she connected me with has been one of my best clients, biggest cheerleader and largest referral source.  (You can hear the whole story about “the power of one connection” at the workshop).

I’ll be hosting a social media workshop on LinkedIn, the largest professional online network with over 150 million users. It will be held at the National Entrepreneur Center, African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, located at 3201 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, Florida (in the Orlando Fashion Square Mall).

In this workshop, you will learn about the benefits of using LinkedIn as a business owner or entrepreneur, then get into working on your individual profiles. No need to bring your laptop, since we’ll be using a computer lab.

All you will need is your resume or list of past job experiences and a professional photo.  Start today by building the proper foundation for building your network, increasing your online visibility and building your business.
