A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’m a New Yorker, born and raised, with a little detour to live on the beautiful island of Barbados for a couple of years, which has made me into the beach lover that I am today (I’m either at the beach, on my way to or from the beach or thinking about the beach). You would think that over 20 years in banking would make me boring, but I’ve handled transactions from $3.00 to $300MM and worked with clients from all walks of life, personality and background. Turns out it was all about building mutually beneficial relationships and making sure the department turned a profit, so I took all that and moved to Florida in 2009 and launched my new company.
I love a good belly laugh, to sing karaoke (At Last by Etta James and Roberta Flack’s First Time Ever I Saw Your Face are my faves) and of course, the beach. Here’s what comes with the package when we work together:
1) A gift for Storytelling – Discovered it a few years ago when I was trained as a volunteer storyteller at Spellbinders. When I’m telling stories or talk about storytelling I just light up. One day it hit me – Helping my clients connect with their audience to make them relatable and get them to know like and trust them through sharing stories in turn helping them sell more – I spasmed out. Stories play an important role in how we communicate with clients and get them to know, like and trust us. Let’s tell yours.
2) I market in my sleep – If I’m passing by a local store, looking at a website or Facebook page I’m making mental notes about what I think they should be doing.
3)I strategize like Napoleon – I like taking ideas and coming up with a strategy to get it done – action plans, templates, worksheets, systems – It’s crazy in my head.
4) I’m intuitive – Not in a Woo Woo kind of way – which is so cool when I’m doing my thing in the Napoleon zone, coming up with marketing strategies with clients.
5) Talk about social? I never meet a stranger – grocery stores, malls, walking in the park – smiling and chatting – that’s me.
6) I’m a strategic listener – Oh I just came up with that. That’s a good one – which is at the core of how storytelling strategies works. What you say and what you mean is important to me.
7) I love public speaking – I could talk to thousands of people in a room – no problem (Stick me in a room of people networking and I’m a little out of my element – I know, right?)
8) And although I’m not a full out geek, I do have geek-like tendencies (self-taught WordPress, Photoshop, Illustrator and will tackle just about any program out there).
9) Found out recently, that I AM creative. Who knew? I always thought creative meant you had to draw, paint, sew . Creating products, programs, spreadsheets, strategies . . . gasp and swoon.
10) I don’t take myself too seriously. It could all be gone tomorrow and at the end of it, we’re all dust anyway.
11) I don’t know if it’s normal, but when I’m listening to my clients I go into this zone. In one conversation I’m processing the information from different points of view – thinking like the client, their competitor, marketing dept, customer service, sales, social media manager, web designer and what comes out is a strategy, direction and focus. I can think broad, but break out the details so you know what needs to be done. It’s scary in my head
